First Milestone

I arrived at the Nantahala Outdoor Center yesterday, 3/11, at 11:00 a.m., a bit ahead of schedule.

The physical effort has at times been intense (crossing Blood Mountain in the snow as an example) and I've learned a ton in a short period.

I'll write more at my next stop, but right now my phone battery is almost depleted... charger and iPad waiting for me in Asheville.

I'm taking a "zero" today... no hiking, just resting and resupplying and eating vast quantities of restaurant food while I can. Tomorrow morning I head for Fontana Dam, then through The Smokies.

Look for an update in a week or so. In the mean time... Happy Trails!

  2. so glad to hear you are taking a day to rest and recharge. Would a solar charger be worth the weight? I can look into one and send in your next supply box.
