Here is the weather picture here:
Wednesday Night: Cloudy with rain developing after midnight. Low 44F. Winds S at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 100%. Rainfall around a quarter of an inch. Winds could occasionally gust over 40 mph.
Thusday: Rain showers in the morning will evolve into a more steady rain in the afternoon. Thunder possible. High near 50F. Winds W at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of rain 80%.
Thursday Night: Rain showers in the evening with precipitation turning to a mixture of rain and snow overnight. Low 36F. Winds WNW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of precip 70%.
Cold. Wet. Windy. It's still very much winter here, well below freezing night before last. I can handle two of those three ingredients, bit all three together is a load of no fun.
So I've ducked into Marion, VA and will wait until this passes over. Friday looks to be turning into snow with diminished winds, and I'm fine hiking in that. I was going to resupply here anyway, so extending a little makes sense.
Will post more later, but that's the current news from the trail. Moving well, staying safe, and having fun.
